I was going to do my Wordless Wednesday post, but WordPress seems to be sucking, so I can’t get anything uploaded.
Instead, I share this shocking article I just read:
“11 Students Plotted To Kill Third-Grade Teacher“
WAYCROSS, Ga. — Eleven students got together and plotted to kill their teacher, even going so far as to bring handcuffs and a knife to school, Waycross police said.
One of the teacher’s relatives said each child at Center Elementary School in Waycross had a job to do, including one assigned to wipe up the blood.
The plot unraveled over the weekend when a student tipped off police, Local 6 reported.
School officials said they never imagined that some of the 8- and 9-year-olds boys and girls at the school would think of bringing physical harm to a teacher, WJXT reported.”A plan had been developed amongst several of our third-grade students to allegedly do harm to their teacher,” said Theresa Martin, of Ware County Schools. “It’s shocking that they would think of this at their young age. I think that is probably the most shocking part for all of us,” Martin said. In addition to the knife being found, the school officials said other students had duct tape, handcuffs, ribbon and a heavy crystal paperweight.
The police chief in Waycross said that he believes the plan may have been developed because one of the students was punished with some sort of time out. However, that theory remains under investigation.”I can’t believe that — because he’s a third-grader. You know, I cannot believe that. Especially, for here,” said parent Doris Rowland. The children could face expulsion and criminal charges pending the investigation.

First of all…WTF is up with whoever wrote this story? Because that paragraph about every student having a job, including cleaning up the blood, is throwing me. What blood? Who’s blood? And why is a student cleaning that up? Shouldn’t that be done by an adult who could wear gloves and responsibly know about Sharps and Hazardous materials?
Second…does it sound too cliche’d to ask what this world is coming to? Because that’s what I want to know.
I think if the children face criminal charges, then their parents should as well. In my humble opinion, it seems like there’s a massive breakdown in communication here.

I think the article intended to convey that in this plot, these students had planned that each person involved would have a job to do…someone would strike the teacher and knock her out, someone else – another of the students – would pull the blinds shut so nobody would view the attack happening, some other student’s job was going to be to stab the teacher with a broken steak knife, which would invariably cause bloodshed.
Another student was supposed to have the job of cleaning up the blood
Luckily, for the teacher and all of these students, a fellow-student reported knowledge of this plot before harm could be done.
I don’t believe that the parents should be charged if none of the parents were involved in the plot.
I don’t believe it has come to light that any of the parents were involved and all reports seem to indicate that everyone except the students involved has had a great shock over all of this.

WTF???? Damn it is pretty freakin’ bad when 3rd graders are plotting to kill their teacher!!
What is the world coming to… really??? Damn! And I think some of that has to be put on the parents, I mean I damn well would have never thought up something like that and even if I did I wouldn’t have the balls to do it, for many reasons, but one would be b/c my parents would kick my freakin’ ass!!! totally. (and to be honest my parents never kicked my ass it was just a respect thing I had for them, they had rules and morals and things that I’m not sure a lot of people have any more.)SCARY!!
i hope my kids fear/respect and understand me enough to know that they shall NEVER even begin a thought of killing… ANYTHING!!!
wow. that is all I can keep saying. Wow. Thank God someone told. Imagine the tragedy if they hadn’t.
hugs, jenn

That one kid’s job was to clean up the evidence. They were very thorough, forensically speaking.
So CSI is to be blamed. And since that’s Viacom we can (naturally and once again) blame MTV.
