One thing I’ve realized being a full time student? The house can get away from you very quickly. I like to think that I’m not a dirty slob, but I’ll admit that the mail has a tendency to pile up on the hall table, the clothes don’t always get put away right away, and I’m terrible (terrible!) at putting my shoes away. Instead of back in the closet, they end up strewn all over the house. I don’t even have that many shoes (although my boy would disagree with that), but they end up all over the house. What I’ve learned? Semester breaks apparently mean tackling those projects that fall by the wayside.
Before I went home to CT I think I put about 4 different loads of laundry away. I finally got all the items together for a Salvation Army donation. I put my shoes back on the shoe rack in the closet. These things make me happy. I’ll admit it, I’m a dork.
Since I’ve been back, I’ve been making a conscious effort to pay attention to the clutter. I deal with the mail each day, and I put my shoes away, and my clothes always make it to the hamper. Yay!
But today….ooo…today was big time loser-dom. After 2 days of acclimating the cats to the new cat door that allows them to go into the basement (and judging by the amount of cobwebs on Allie’s face, I think she likes it), I finally decided they weren’t freaked out about it…and I moved the litter downstairs. I must have picked them up and carried them down and set them in the litter box about 15 times. However, since this morning, there have been no accidents. They are really good with finding the litter if I have to move it, so I don’t expect them to have any issues.
THEN! Then I moved on to moving and organizing things. I did all of my toiletry storage bins. I did the hall closet. I did the bathroom closet. I bought a new shower head for the 2nd shower and installed it. AND I finally hung the curtains in the office that I bought…oh…in January. They make the room look bigger and brighter.
And then I cut up a cantaloupe and strawberries.
It made me happy. If that makes me a dork, so be it. I can accept it.
Now if only I can keep the shoe trend going once school madness starts again next week.

Girl I’m with you on the shoe thing…I don’t know what it is, but I leaves shoes all over. It’s awful! LOL
Congrats on getting your house in order. That makes me feel good too

I can very much relate. Mail is the worst. It truly multiplies on its own. We were not so good at our old place, but when we moved here a year ago, we vowed to keep up with those little things that go so far out of control. So far, so good. And those little things make me feel so awesome, too.

Oh! That sounds cool. My place is a mess twenty four seven and I haven’t been a student in ages. Sigh.
IT WILL BE CLEANED!

I find it’s hard to keep it clean. Sooo hard. Not sure how big your place is, but it seems to grow exponentially as your square footage dwindles. Sigh. Cleaning is a never-ending battle, I do feel.

I can relate! Sometimes when I’m working (I’m in grad school too) I fantasize about having the time and wherewithal to clean my house. Rarely happens though!

I hate to admit that just having a full-time job has me paying no attention to the clutter and living like a slob!
