School daze are here again…

Today was my last official day of summer until August.  Tomorrow I make my return to school to take two classes and teach one.  I will officially be insane by  Thursday, as for the month of June I’ll be in class for 5 hours on Mondays, then 8 straight Tuesday – Thursday.  Fridays I’m sure I’ll be in a catatonic state, wondering what I’m doing to myself.  It’s only 4 weeks, the class I’m teaching is Public Speaking (and against my nature, I’m going to make this the easiest class these kids will ever take!), and if worse comes to worse, one of the classes I’m taking I’m doing as an audit (translation: for no grade) so if I need to let something slide, I do have some wiggle room.

Oy.

I met up with some friends for lunch today that I haven’t seen since the semester ended in April.  I miss my friends.  The other day someone asked me if I was ready to go back, and I said a very definitive yes.  I officially got bored.  I’m ready to get back into the swing of things (although I think June will be more frenzy than swing).  I’m ready to see my friends again.  I like the people I’ve met.  We are a pretty cool group of people.

Met with a professor as well, and got some interesting career/student/academic advice.  I always appreciate the people that will tell things to you straight up, and not coat things with a lot of bull.  I know most people don’t agree with that, but I like knowing where things stand.

So it’s time to pick up the pencils and books and get back to being an academic now.  I haven’t done any work on my book chapters, or any of the other projects I have planned for the summer.  Eh – the summer is long – and I did need the break.

I just hope my public speaking class this term is as cool as the one class I just had this past spring.  If they are cool, then it will make things a lot more bearable.

  1. I am trying to remember what it was like being a student, and while I did love it, I remember being so darn busy all the time to a point that I am probably too wimpy to handle anymore :) Good luck to you!

  2. Good luck on your classes and on the one you teach. You’ll be fine

  3. I don’t like the BS either, just shoot straight and let me know the reality. On that note, you will be insane and it will be crazy, but you can handle it and it will be over in a month. Good luck!

  4. I hope your public speaking class will provide some more fun stories for the blog. Those were quite enjoyable!

  5. hey there.

i’m tired just reading about what you are going to be doing and the hours you will be doing it. :P uh!! you go girl. keepign busy definitely makes the time fly so you will see those 4 weeks just go by in a blink…. well at least i hope so. i also hope you enjoy them. seeing your friends is definitely a plus to it all. :)

i’m thinking of going back to work, we have some what of a plan in motion here, but nothing set in stone just yet… but i’m anxious to go back to work for many reasons, and seeing all my friends more regularly is part of it. :)

well anyway… enjoy your day today!!

    hugs!! jenn

  6. Ugh. sounds like this week is going to be crazy. Hope you get a nice batch for your Public Speaking class.
I also prefer people who lay it all out when it comes to their opinions. My good friends over the years are usually the ones who do that.

  7. Good luck with school. I miss school — sometimes. :)
