You ever have one of those days where you are just crabby, and people get on your nerves for the littlest things?  I do.  It’s not even PMS.  I just have decided that I really have low tolerance for stupid people.  Like, non-existent tolerance.

We’ve been in our classes for 2 weeks.  It’s not a huge amount of time to get confused in, especially when you only meet three days a week, a la my public speaking class.  The syllabus is up online, I ask them every day if they have questions.  Before I every class I say which chapters I’m covering (“Today we’re going to go over chapters 8 and 9).  It’s not rocket science.

I get an email at 1:47pm.  Our class meets at 5:30.  It’s from an incoming freshman telling me that he can only open the chapter outlines for some of the chapters, and that the page keeps refreshing and he can’t open the others.

Excuse me while I state the obvious.  It’s 4 hours to go to the class, and this kid is just starting to study.

So I go to the site and open up the chapters he can’t.  Did you read that right?  I opened them up.  Meaning, he’s screwing something up.  So I email him back and ask him to explain what he means by the page keeps refreshing.

He writes, “try clicking on chapters 3, 4, 6,7, none of them will open thats what I
meant by refresh”

I put my head down on my desk and exhaled loudly.  If he had been in front of me, I might have called him a dumbass.

We haven’t covered these chapters.  They aren’t on the midterm.  Which is why you can’t open them.  But if you look at the freaking syllabus, you’ll clearly see the chapters that are included on the midterm. AND THEY ARE NOT THERE!

Don’t even get me started on the 40 something year old woman in my stats class that has to be the MOST annoying person ever – complete with fist pumps when she gets something right.
