It’s official

I’m a nerd.  I’m a big, raging nerd.

I’m completely ready for this summer session to be over.  Not, mind you, because I want to sleep my days away, lay by the pool and read Glamour and Cosmo, and watch chick flicks all day.

No.  I want this summer session to be over because I want to do my own research.  Did you hear me?  I want to write papers.  I want to write my book chapters.  I had some ideas this afternoon that I want to pursue.  I want to come up with other ideas.  I want to bug one of my professors about ideas.  I want to run ideas by a couple others.  I want to sit in front of my computer and write and research.

I’ve been keeping my eye on a couple of different organizations for their conference paper calls, because I knew they would be upcoming.  One on site, I found this:

“Politics and technology are increasingly interdependent in the modern elections.  The 2008 campaign is characterized by a convergence of new technologies, new voices, and new voters.  The 2009 Research Symposium programs are designed to capitalize on what the convergence of these factors produced in this election.  Research reports will focus on the way new technologies are being used by candidates, the media, and by voters, including media and candidate Web sites, blogs, citizen-generated media, YouTube, social networking media like FaceBook and MySpace, and podcasting.”

And I geeked out.  Completely and totally geeked out.  Because I am in love with this area of research.  I’m writing 2 book chapters on political things this summer.  I have 3 different new paper ideas, and an overhaul idea for an old paper I did.

I felt like this spoke to me on an intimate level.

See?  Nerd.  Geek.

This is my fate, and I must accept it.

i love to write and read and do research type things, although, i’m just not as good at any of it as you are… or maybe just not good at all. :) Crazy to compare myself or ever even try to someone of your education level and amazing talents. :)
