Friday, pie day!

I’m trying to decide if I gave my boy and I food poisoning.  All day I’ve felt ‘off’.  I’m hoping the answer to that is no…but if it is yes, then woo hoo for rapid weight loss!  Every once in a while my boy says he wants to go on the salmonella diet.

I did some Olympics stuff this morning, then headed up to Ann Taylor Loft to make a return, which ended up being an exchange.  I think Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft are my new favorite stores.  I’ve always vowed that ‘one day’ I would shop there, because I do love their clothes (and considering that I wear classic styles about 98% of the time, the styles will never be outdated), and apparently that ‘one day’ has come.  Being an educator, I am privy to sign up to be on their special “Ann Taylor loves teachers” email list, where I get bonus coupons.  Today I took a 25% off this weekend one with me.  Wednesday I happened to be in an Ann Taylor Loft as they were switching out inventory, which was frustrating because something would be there one minute, then gone 3 minutes later.   When checking out, the woman asked if we had found everything ok, and my friend said no, because of the inventory thing.  They were running a promo where if you spent $50, you got a $25 off coupon to use between Sept. 8 and October something.  The woman apparently felt bad, because I ended up with 5 of those coupons.  Woo hoo!  $125 free at Ann Taylor!  I’ll have to go back in a couple of weeks.

This is a cult.  They are sucking me in.  I can feel it.

I had lunch with my boy at his new job. Friday is $2 lunch in the cafeteria, so we had to take advantage!  I was pretty impressed with the cafeteria – lots of choices and everything looked really good.  I stuck with a sandwich, but I’d try more if he invites me back.  :-)   We ate with his new boss and one of my Alabama classmates who is also teaching at the school in the fall.  We also ate among the groups and groups of freshman in their orientation phase.  It was interesting – nothing to mark you as a freshman more easily than eating at a table where there’s a girl standing above you holding a white picket sign with your group number on it.

I met with his boss afterwards, in an attempt to finally get my own program and dissertation committee figured out.  I was sent home with a dissertation to read, and my head spinning with ideas.  I promptly sat down and was able to churn out several good pages for my own book chapter.  I’ve enlisted my boy as a co-author, so go us, we are going to be published.

We are so going to be the nerds of our friends, if we aren’t already.

So that is my vow for the weekend.  Tropical Fay is coming to visit us, so I’m  determined to get my portion of the book chapter all done.  Wish me luck!

  1. I had heard about the Loft teachers’ discount but thought that I didn’t go there enough to make it worth my time. I had never bought anything when I went. That is, until last week when I went there twice in two different cities and bought something each time! I have two of the $25 cards now. :)

  2. It is a cult. I think 90% of my wardrobe comes from the LOFT.

Though, read the fine print. It’s not $125 free — you can use one $25 per every $50 spent! (At least that’s usually the deal with those cards. I haven’t been there this time around.)

Well, if they were rotating, you can probably find the stuff they removed on the sale rack. I rarely buy anything at full price! And never without a coupon. They treat their frequent customers well :)

  3. You guys are total nerds!!!!

    I love it.

Alas, you’ve totally made me think about doctoral programs. It’s quite annoying you know that? lol.

Like, I’m totally trying to figure out what large university would let me complete a program online. Or partially online. Or all online. Yeah. Thanks. Thanks a lot. ;-p

  4. I love LOVE ATL. And you are so right. They get you in a vicious cycle with their coupon gimmicks. Sometimes I just have to make myself lose them to cut myself off!
