Oh yes. Yes it can.
The student that wanted me to do her work for her?
I emailed her back the name of the person that she needed to contact. I figured that was good enough. She’s in college, right? I shouldn’t have to hold her hand through the entire process, right?
Wrong.
This was the email she sent me today (and the typos are all hers):
” I have looked and looked to fine X’s email or contact information and I have not been able to find it. Please tell me
what I should do! see you tomorrow!”
I really, really, really, really, really wanted to email her back and say “You should drop my class. Now.” I didn’t.
Instead, I emailed her back and said “If you are not finding her email address or contact information, then the next logical step is to call the main number of the station and ask to please be transferred to her line.” And no. I didn’t give her the main number of the station. She can look on the website and figure that one out herself.
Seriously, is this really this hard to figure out? Does she really think that I’ll call up this person and get her hired? Sorry cupcake. Not going to happen.
I so don’t have the patience for this right now.

Really?
She will not last one day as an intern.

That’s actually scary. It’s a symptom of something we are doing wrong with how we raise our kids and educate them, too, I think.

Wow. What year in college is the student? That’s pretty bad. You have more patience than I think I would!

I would have suggested that she come to some very inconvenient office hours for assistance. Perhaps that would motivate her to look up the information on her own.

Prior to actually teaching college freshman I believed that once I stopped teaching hs the babysitting aspect would disappear. Funny how they don’t mature much.

I feel sorry for the station–if they take her, that is.
Not that you asked for my opinion but I would set her straight now or you’re going to end up with this crap all semester.
