Oh, the stupidity!

And it isn’t even about my students, although a couple of them fit the bill today.

My friend WennyBrown called me yesterday to share a tidbit of stupidity that I thought was fabulous.  Wendy works for a big retail corporation, one that has their own generic brand of goods.  One of her counterparts in their corporate headquaters left her a voicemail, and then refused to talk to Wendy until Wendy actually listened to the voicemail.

The voicemail was from a woman who called to say that she had bought the store brand lip balm.  The balm came with a warning that it was flammable.  So this woman called to tell them that she applied this balm, and then tried to set her lips on fire…and it didn’t work.  So she was upset that the warning was a lie.

WTF??  My boy made the comment that he hoped they got this woman’s name and number, because she might need to be committed.

I cracked up.  Absolutely cracked up.  Who the hell does this?  Really?  Not just being upset that the warning label was wrong…but you purposefully tried to set your own lips on fire??  Again…WTF???

Wendy promised me that when it was slow again, she and her co-workers were going to take the lip balm outside, smear it on the concrete, and try to light it on fire to see if it worked.   On the concrete.  Not on their lips.

This just proves that whenever I get frustrated with my students, their stupidity and their apathy…apparently there is always someone worse out there that I need to be abundantly thankful that I am not teaching.
