Thirteen things I saw/did last Thursday in San Francisco

1. The moon setting behind the Golden Gate Bridge

2. Saw the night give way to the day over the city

3. Saw the first rays of light hit the Golden Gate Bridge

4. Saw the sun finally rise over the city

5. Posed for a picture!

6. Went to Lombard Street (the view from the top of the street, then the view of the street)

7. Went to Telegraph Hill (Lombard from the distance, View of Alcatraz)

8. Went to Baker Beach at sunset

9. Turned cartwheels in the twilight

10. Spent some time with mom, and tried to caputre a good picture of the surf crashing on the rocks for her

11. Got caught in the act…

Hey, Thursday Thirteen on March 13! Am I the only dork that noticed that?

Thirteen things I need to get done before leaving for San Francisco this weekend

1.Collect the surveys from the 2nd middle school I worked with

2. Put that survey data into an Excel sheet so someone smarter than me can run the data analysis.

3. Finish my Ugly Betty character analysis paper

4. Finish the lit review for my sociology group paper

5. Make the changes to my MySpace paper

6. Create a powerpoint for above mentioned Ugly Betty paper

(Wow. Don’t I sound like the biggest dork ever?)

7. Get a tire fixed. Or maybe buy 2 new tires. Or 4.

8. Laundry. Lots of laundry.

9. Take a tour around Kohl’s again to see if they have the jacket I found and like restocked in something other than a size 0. Also buy a new belt and maybe a yoga pants outfit. And sunglasses.

10. Get one of those horseshoe-y neck pillows for the plane.

11. Pack

12. Set up a plan with my friend for dinner and airport runs

13. Plan some fun activities!

I can do this – this list is less than half work, and the rest fun! Woo hoo!

Thursday Thirteen, 3/6/08

Thirteen things I would rather be doing than schoolwork…

1.Sleeping. A lot.

2. Catching up on all the TV shows that are awaiting my attention on the TiVo

3. Read a book for sheer pleasure. Not for 10 minutes of de-stressing for bed, and not feeling guilty about it.

4. Take my camera and get lost for an afternoon.

5. Did I say sleep yet???

6. Go through and get my donations for the Salvation Army together, and donated.

7. Save all my old pictures from my old laptop onto CD’s so I don’t lose them

8. Get a massage. 90 minutes, please. Maybe a facial too.

9. Go out with my boy and have a hot date where we take pictures of things. Does that sound dirty? It’s not…I promise!

10. Sleep would be good.

11. Spend some time catching up on all the wonderful new blogs that I’ve found.

12. Go back to the gym consistently

13. You know? I think I’d like to sleep!

Thirteen things on/around my desk

Since this is where I’ve spent the majority of my time this week…sigh….

1.My laptop. Right now, I’m not so convinced it’s not a third arm that is suddenly vital to my life.

2. A bottle of Advil

3. My teacher notebook – holds my syllabi, attendance and grade records, and all the wonderful excuse notices from my students being sick.

4. Two different pen/pencil holders

5. A packet of fun post-it notes that my mom bought me for Valentine’s Day with my first initial on them.

6. Speech class text book, and two teacher manuals.

7. A framed picture of Tommy Tuberville and the Auburn Tigers coming out of the tunnel and into Jordan-Hare Stadium.

8. A hand-painted ceramic sign I bought in Savannah that says “Live well, laugh often, love much”

9. 9 Textbooks for my own classes

10. Three binders full of this semesters articles and miscellaneous readings

11. A whole slew of things to be filed in the filing cabinet, like 401K statements, tax items, software licenses…

12. Some cards and pictures

13. My Emmy nomination. You know how people that don’t win say that just being nominated was enough of an honor? Bullshit.

1. My parents and family (Me, my parents, my Uncle, my grandmother. Not everyone by any means)

~ My high school boyfriend. Yeah. I was a late bloomer.

~ We recently reconnected (yay Facebook!) We talk every once in a while.

~ A Rolling Rock

4. What was your FIRST car?
~ That was mine, all by myself? I bought my Great Uncle’s 1988 Chevy Spectrum. For $1. So basic it didn’t even have a radio in it.

5. Who was your FIRST grade teacher?
~ Mrs. Wilkey. We are still in touch!
6. Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?
~ Ohio. I was 9 months old. I don’t remember it.
7. Who was your FIRST best friend and are you still friends with them?
~ Melissa. No.

8. Who was your FIRST kiss?
~ See above mentioned high school boyfriend. Told you I was a late bloomer.

9. What was the FIRST thing you did this morning?

~ Hit the snooze alarm. Twice.

This is a new thing for me, mainly because, let’s be honest, some days there just isn’t anything to write about, and if I’m going to blog 365, I’m going to fall back on to gimmicks sometimes. So because I’m going a little out of my mind, I’m going to gimmick away. I don’t know if this will be an every week feature, or just a sometimes one. I guess we’ll have to see!

Thirteen Things that make me crazy (i.e., frustrated, mad, stressed…)

1. Myself. I have an awesome ability to completely stress myself out and make myself completely crazy.

2. The person that raised the bar on what is expected from PhD students during their tenure as a student

that makes them attractive candidates. Conferences? Publications? We are broke students. How do

are we supposed to afford 10+ conferences??

3. Not having a plan about something. I enjoy spontaneity, but I like to have things planned and

organized a whole lot too. It makes my life easier.

4. The hot water running out on me in my shower. GRRRRRR.

5. Drivers that play cat and mouse with you. Dude, you are not cool because you were just going 50 in

the left lane. There’s a reason you were getting tailed. Don’t make it your mission to catch up to me,

cut me off, then slow way down in front of me again.

6. Shit disturbers. Some things in life aren’t as big of a deal as you make them out to be. Get over it,

and quit the drama.

7. Excuses.

8. Drama.

9. Female hormones. Specifically why I always seem to get killer headaches at the same time each

month. Not. Fun.

10. How my cat has become the new snooze button on my alarm. The alarm goes off, and if I don’t get right up, she climbs up

on me and starts meowing. I curse the day I started giving her wet food.

11. How there suddenly doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day, days in the week, weeks in the semester. I’m scared.

12. Paying for copies and printing at the University. Again…poor student here.

13. How easy it was for me to come up with 13 things that drive me crazy.
